Only in the Southwest…

This is the time of year we wait for all summer!  It is warm during the day and beautiful at night!  Mid 80’s to the mid 60’s at night…

We went shopping the other day and came home with these wonderful plants…

We bought 4 baskets of this mix, I just love “million bells”….

Only in the southwest can you have poinsettias and pansies at the same time!  :)

I have gone through all of my Christmas items and I have some fun things to sell.  I will post them here first, then Ebay.  A few fun Mary E items!  All retired, so keep tuned in…:)

I am proud of us, we have pared down a bunch!

For all of the house….I used to have double this.:)

For the kitchen area, my Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus are about 25 years old now!  They still work, I just love the animated figures.  I actually saw a few this year in Eau Claire at their major hardware store.

And this is the stuff leaving….

See the black & Decker sander in the orange and black box?  I got that last year from Chris for Christmas and I found it in the storage room!  Can’t wait to see if I use it in 2013! lol

Here is one of the boxes of items I am selling, it doesn’t look like much, but I can guarantee there are some great goodies here!

So, I will be decorating this next week, and the following one, it takes me a few days as I can’t do it all at once.  I will try to get photos of the items I am selling tomorrow or Friday.

One of the items I found was a lot of the bubble lights…isn’t this the cutest project for Christmas???

The Day After….

We had a wonderful day, quiet and low key. We ate out on the patio…

IMG_3163

Beautiful flowers Wayne brought home….

IMG_3167

Wayne and my son Chris took everything off of both areas and hosed it all down the other day, they were really dusty from a whole summer of heat and dirt!  We cooked out turkey breast in a roaster on the red cart in the corner, it helped keep the house cooler. This was the first year I didn’t stress over cooking this meal, I had a lot premade and warming it up while the turkey rested worked out perfect!

IMG_3166

This area still need a lot of work, it was an inside small room that we had to tear down because of black mold…..so the floor is uneven and ugly!  And these chairs are so uncomfortable! lol, they are getting spray painted red and put out in the front and back yards with pots of flowers on them this winter.

My sons are both sleeping, their Dad is at work, he went in at 3:30AM and this is how we all feel today….

Maya is pooped from having the youngster around….and the youngster is finally relaxing herself…

Abbey has become a wonderful dog, now over two years old, she is really become the dog everyone told us she could be. :)

Now ( drum roll please)….

My Christmas Ornament Wreath

This last weekend was Meri’s AZ Bloggers Luncheon and ornament wreath party…..we had such a wonderful day, I am going to let Meri tell you all about it on her blog, but I wanted to show you my wreath….

IMG_3143

For a first time, it came out pretty good….I learned about layering, and on the next one I make will be different.  More uniform in shape.  But I am happy with it.

Also….while I was at Albertson’s grocery store I came across “Autumn” poinsettias!

Aren’t they just beautiful?  I have never seen fall colored poinsettias!

Hope you all have a great week!

To cook or not to cook that is the question…..

Me and my husband have been talking now for a few weeks about what to do about Thanksgiving.  It is only 4 of us and regardless of how many people there are, it is still a huge amount of work for me….

So it came down to three choices…..

Cook the meal….with some help.

turkey 1

Go out out to a restaurant…all four of us have gotten where we hate crowds, the noise, etc….

Or use one of the grocery stores ready made all you have to do is warm it up meals….

We have decided to use a Albertsons Full Turkey Dinner, we have had it once before and it was good.  I will make two sides that my family likes,  which is easy enough and then we can relax at home, watch football and I can play with my grand puppy!

It has just become too much work for me, and sadly I need to admit this and go on…..it isn’t about the meal, it’s about the people you share it with!

What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

A Christmas Open House

I know it is just November 9th, but I am so in the mood for Christmas! My friend Cheri and me went to an Christmas Open House at a store in Scottsdale called “The Décor Store”.  They always do an incredible job for the holidays.  Not much that I would use in my vintage Christmas decorating but it sure was fun to share a day with my buddy!

Warning….Photo heavy post!

Oh, and one more item we got on our trip to Minnesota…..Deb found it in the clearance area of Touch of Home…..I am not a pink girl, but this lovely tablecloth just had to come with me….it will be pretty with my red Fiesta ware on Valentines Day….
